This gull was seen along the Irtysh around the New Bukhtarma village and since then it looked interesting to me . Now I got some time to check and would like thoughts and opinions .

The four innermost primaries are under active moult and therefore cannot clearly assess the black pattern on P4 or even P3 , however a broad black complete band on P5 . The pattern and extent of black on primaries fits Capsian ( Cachinnans ) to a certain extent , however I expected paler grey upperparts for Caspian . This bird looks a bit darker grey on upperparts .

The most odd feature is the bill proportions . It looks heavy and never one I expect on Caspian ( at least I never seen any Caspian with such a bill . )

With no any clue to bare parts or leg colour , I would suggest that this bird might be a Mongolian Gull . More opinions are much welcomed
