Votes
- A version is a species that someone suggested. The vote of the person who suggested it is the first vote for it.
- One member has one vote per observation. If you press “agree” under another version, your vote moves. Press again to take the vote back.
- A species is counted when it has 3 votes and more than any other version. With a tie it is not counted. The author’s consent is not needed.
- Example: you suggested “Grey Heron” and a few more members pressed “agree”. When there are enough votes, the species is counted and the observation leaves the unidentified.
- If after that someone suggests another species and the leader is no longer strictly ahead, the observation goes back to the unidentified.
- Members who have been registered for over a day and have uploaded at least one observation can vote. Anyone can comment.
- The author’s guess from the upload form is not a version and not a vote. It is shown as a quote.
- The author suggests and votes like everyone else. If they disagree with the result, they press “Another species”.
Experts and moderators
Their vote is an ordinary one. The difference is that they can correct the species over the voting, with an explanation that everyone sees. Voting is then closed, and the old versions and votes stay in the history. Another expert or a moderator can change it again, also with an explanation. If two experts keep changing it back and forth, a moderator decides. Every correction is written to a log.
They can also mark an observation “cannot be identified” (blurred, no key features). It leaves the unidentified feed; any expert or moderator can remove the mark.
