These birds are very similar to Yellow Wagtails breeding in Xinjiang - see https://www.researchgate.net/publication/355487542_Taxonomic_status_of_grey-headed_Yellow_Wagtails_breeding_in_western_China. As opposed to typical thunbergi, they show clean yellow underparts and extensive white on the throats. It would be interesting to know if this Xinjiang population extends also into eastern Kazakhstan, or if it migrates through the area.

Https://www.researchgate.net/publication/355487542_Taxonomic_status_of_grey-headed_Yellow_Wagtails_breeding_in_western_China.

Many thanks for pointing me to these additional birds, Anna! Yes, they also match the Xinjiang population very well.
