The warm sunny day. Trip to east from Almaty not to mountains but to plain from foothills to side of Kapchagai reservoir. On the open areas, meadows, fields with bushes the Corn Buntings, Rollers, many Red-headed Buntings were observed. To far from mountains the Common Starlings and Eurasian Bee-eaters were often observed. In high poplar and elm roadside groves the singing of Golden Orioles were heard, and once I saw the flying pair of Orioles. In the thickets of russian olives I saw and heard Common Nightingales, saw Wood Pigeons, Oriental Turtle Doves and Penduline Tits, and heard singing Greenfinches. Everywhere the Mynahs, Magpies and Lesser Grey Shrikes occurred. In villages there are the Collared and Laughing Doves. In Kyrbaltabai I watched singing Blackbird, the Hoopoe, flying flock of Rosy Starlings, Barn Swallows, Masked Wagtails.
On little stream I watched Northern Lapwing and flock of Redshanks. Some red-legged, probably adult, Redshanks unquiet behaved. Other ones with pale legs, probably fledglings, were quiet. Juvenile Redshanks most of time were in the grass, but adult birds sometimes flew off. Lapwing unquiet behaved, and later I noted its little chick in the grass. Also the Black-headed Gulls were in this stream.
In high elm grove near the cane thickets the Common Nightingale sang, but close to Nightingale the Reed Warblers sang in thickets. The Black-headed Penduline Tit compiled the fluff of canes probably to nest building. On low branches of elm two juvenile Carrion Crows perched. They wasn't afraid me but adult Carrion Crow was being in about 20 meters from me didn't call the alarm to them. So I rounded over juvenile Crows but they simply looked to me. In trees crowns the Falcons (Hobbies) cried but I didn't see them.
Over the Enpendy village I found the mixed colony of Grey Herons and Black-crowned Night Herons. The colony is contained about 15 nests of Grey Herons with 2-4 quite a large juvenile birds in each one. But I couldn't count the nest of Night Herons. In disquiet (my closing) the Grey Herons flew off from nests and soaring close up, but the Night Herons hid to the inland of trees and tailed away. I don't know why but the Rollers flew to the Heron's nests. Also I saw the Peasant and even shot it in fly.
On back way I twice noted Long-tailed Shrikes - in Kuldja and in Zhanashar.
